Developed for use with the firm's HP 66311A mobile communications dc source, the HP 14565A device-characterization software for designing and manufacturing cellular phones is said to let engineers accurately visualize current profiles and device current draw with only a computer running Windows 95, 98 or NT and a GP-IB card. In fact, the software is claimed to be so effective that designers no longer will have to write test programs, buy or set up current shunt equipment, or even use an oscilloscope in measuring and viewing in real-time their products' current profiles.HP 14565A device-characterization software allows users to view and measure current and voltage waveforms. An easy-to-use GUI permits the user to save, copy and paste traces into documents such as lab reports. In addition, the software can store the current waveforms for use in comparing them to waveforms generated during test development and manufacturing. The HP 66311A dc source was developed specifically for testing and measuring mobile phone performance.
