The world’s first data acquisition device for the IEEE-1394 serial bus (FireWire) is the DAQPad-6070E, a multifunctional I/O unit that connects directly to Windows 98 PCs equipped with a 1394 serial port or PCI-to-1394 adapter. The device gives engineers a portable and easily installed and configured answer to their computer-based measurement applications. The unit comes with the firm’s NI-DAQ driver software and integrates seamlessly with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI and ComponentWorks measurement and automation software. Easy plug-and-play configuration is made possible by the 1394 bus. Two configurations are offered: mass termination or BNC termination. The former features a low-profile package that fits under most laptop PCs.
