A full suite of tools for Java technology-based consumer devices promises to significantly reduce time to market for information appliances using the PersonalJava platform. One of the tools, called Kalos Espresso, is a rich user-interface framework. Kalos Architect is a visual user-interface builder. Portico is a productivity component suite that includes DeviceTop, which comprises a Web browser, an e-mail client and a personal assistant. Together, the products provide a total software solution for Java-based information appliances.
