Support for dynamic task loading and memory protection in a royalty-free RTOS can be found in Precise/MQX 2.50. The operating system's dynamic task loading feature enables embedded software developers to prototype and test portions of application code incrementally (also referred to as "bottom-up" programming). This is said to make programmers much more productive because it gives them the ability to experiment efficiently with different algorithmic implementations. In addition, loading incrementally on the target permits users to change application code even on products that have been shipped to the field. Also new in version 2.50 is support for memory protection on systems that have integrated memory-management-unit hardware. Tasks can have protected memory on a per-task or group-of-tasks basis.
