With a goal of creating an industry standard for an open architecture for vehicular electronic control, the firm's Nucleus OSEK is a full-featured implementation of the OSEK/VDX real-time operating system. The RTOS includes support for all four conformance classes from basic functionality only through BCC2 functionality plus extended tasks. The OS is configurable and scalable, allowing embedded computing resources to be used more efficiently. In addition, the OS is written primarily in ANSI C, making it very portable. Three primary modules comprise the OS architecture: the operating system itself, communications, and network management.
