Offered as the industry's first family of embedded content addressable memories (CAMs), the Custom-Touch NetCAM compiler generates high-speed ternary CAMs that can be embedded into IC designs for use in network applications, such as routers and switches (photo shows a schematic of a NetCAM). The compiler is designed to offer design engineers the flexibility to build hardware-based search engines for handling the high traffic volume on the Internet with increased performance. The compiler provides completely characterized timing and power information and generates a wide range of EDA models. It implements a part-matched scheme that integrates or matches the CAM, SRAM and additional special-purpose logic in generating layouts. Pricing is based on a license fee of $200,000 for a single configuration and $750,000 for a single, node-locked compiler license that can generate any configuration.
