In conjunction with Intel, the company has optimized its QNX Neutrino real-time operating system for the Intel Pentium III processor family. Optimizations are claimed to result in significant performance improvements for developers wishing to run QNX-based solutions on Pentium III platforms.
The initial testing of the application has found major improvements in the overall performance including speed increases of up to 33% for both context switching and interprocess communication. According to the company, fast context switching allows applications to process events with minimum latency.
The QNX Neutrino RTOS is a central component of the QNX realtime platform and is available now.
