The PICSTART Plus programmer kit now includes the PICC Lite C compiler that supports the PIC16F84A flash microcontroller (MCU), as well as all existing eight-bit MCUs in the PIC line. The ANSI-C compiler is said to accelerate the learning curve for anyone being introduced to C language and embedded programming of the company's MCUs.
The kit also includes MPLAB, a complete development environment with a user configurable tool bar module and a status bar that communicates editing and debugging information. With a sample of the PIC16F84A RISC controller in an 18-pin DIP package, the kit costs $199 each.
