USB hubs are easy to find, but reportedly not always for users who need a full 500 mA from each downstream port for such industrial applications as data acquisition and digital I/O. To meet these requirements, the USBH 3204 hub is said to offer a full 500 mA per port, plus surge protection on both its four-port USB 2.0 hubs and its seven-port USB 1.1 hubs. The new hubs combine the high speed of USB 2.0 with connectivity to existing USB 1.0 or 1.1 devices. Connectors are fully compatible with all three specifications, so users don’t need cable adapters. Users who need more downstream ports but don’t require the speed of USB 2.0 can specify the USBH 3117, which has seven downstream ports. Both types of hubs come with drivers, USB cables and power supplies. They can be daisy-chained to connect up to 127 USB devices, and they’re stackable as well. Both offer USB plug-and-play and hot-swap features. CYBERRESEARCH INC., Branford, CT. (800) 341-2525.
