Set-top boxes, POS terminals, ATM machines, and other embedded applications requiring fast communications connection speeds are key candidates for InchModem 240IM-T-LP, a 2,400-bps modem that measures only 1.1" x 1.1" x 0.39". The embedded modem offers a fast hand-shaking time of about 6s post billing and dissipates as little as 50 mA (typ.) or 13.5 mA in sleep mode. The self-contained unit—it includes built-in data pump, modem controller and international DAA—provides several enhanced features, such as line-in-use, call waiting, and remote hang-up. It can also automatically detect over-current conditions on tip-and-ring. The low-profile InchModem supports DOS, Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems. Single unit price is $49.
