Thirty-six, single-die, 512 Mb, DDR2 chips in 60-ball FBGA packages and a planar design allows the company's latest DIMMs to house 2 GB of DDR2 RAM. According to the company, currently available modules with densities greater than 1 GB use stacked-die. The modules measure 4.1 mm thick, making them particularly desirable for DDR2 server applications. Depending on the target system's configuration, they are also said to generate up to 10% less heat than comparable modules. Other features include operating speeds of 400 and 533 Mb/s. The current portfolio of registered modules includes densities of 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, and 4 GB, each of which employs the planar design except the 4 GB module. Samples of the 2 GB DIMM are organized as 256 Mb x 72 (2 Rank x 4) for operating speeds of PC2-3200 and PC2-4300. Single-unit prices range from $700 to $910.
