Debuting as the industry’s first plug-and-play tuner module, the DPF88XX relies on Zarlink’s SL2610 single-conversion tuner IC, said to be less expensive while delivering higher performance than devices based on dual-conversion architectures. Co-developed with Thomson, the module addresses plug-and-play requirements outlined by the FCC to allow manufacturers to meet television-receiver specifications for digital cable and over-the-air digital programming. The SL2610 is claimed as the only commercially available IC that integrates image rejection in a traditional single-conversion, three-band MOPLL (mixer oscillator phase locked loop). The DPF88XX tuner module is available now from Thomson, with full engineering support. For more information, contact [email protected]. ZARLINK SEMICONDUCTOR, Ottawa, Canada. (613) 592-0200.
