The BCM97318 reference design platform will enable the development of Internet Protocol set-top boxes incorporating the H.264 advanced video compression technology. The reference design includes a BCM7318 IP decoder and a BCM7411 video decoder and audio processor, both to be paired with a BCM6348 ADSL2+ chip. The decoder includes a MPEG-2 audio/video decoder, MIPS32 CPU operating at 266 MHz, 10/100 Ethernet controller with an integrated physical layer device, and a USB 2.0 host controller with a two-port physical interface. The BCM7411 video decoder/audio processor supports H.264 and incorporates an audio decoder core that supports MPEG-4, Dolby Digital, MPEG-1 Layer I, II, III (MP3), and PCM.
