The PowerMIDAS C5000, an intelligent dual-PMC I/O controller, promises to easily integrate PowerPC CPUs, Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and dual PMC I/O devices into a single 6U CompactPCI system. The controller supports a 667- MHz or 800-MHz AMCC PowerPC 440GX processor, 1 GB of DDR SDRAM, two PMC sites, and Independent PCI-X bus segments. Up to two Fibre Channel ports are available on the front panel without sacrificing either PMC site. The PMC also provides dual Gigabit Ethernet on J3 according to PICMG 2.16, dual Gigabit Ethernet on J5 for fiber or copper interfacing on the rear transition module, and Fast Ethernet on the front panel. Other features include differential signal routing from PMC-P14 to J3 according to PICMG 2.17 for StarFabric, and differential signal routing from PMC-P14 to J5 according to PICMG 2.3.
