The production release of Soleus version 1.0, on time to its development schedule, debuts as a turnkey software platform that leverages Windows CE to enable faster, lower-cost consumer handset development. Relying on Windows CE, the application extends Microsoft's Visual Studio via its UX Designer plug-in. This means Soleus is fully customizable, making it easier to build unique user interfaces while Windows CE Platform Builder provides drag-and-drop support for operating system configuration. The software comes pre-integrated with all telephony essentials and delivers GSM pre-certification. It also includes a comprehensive suite of consumer phone applications including alarm, calculator, calendar, call history, camera, contacts, dialer, media player, phone settings, SMS, theme manager, and a number of recently integrated best-of-breed mobile phone applications. These include handwriting and voice dialing functionality from Nuance Communications and gaming products from Implicit Software Solutions. In addition to these applications, third-party software vendors are on hand to provide e-mail, browser, multimedia messaging, and predictive-text services.
