Delivered as an ultra-low-power wireless platform enabling up to 20-year battery life, the ZigBee-based MC1322x platform-in-package integrates the essential components of a ZigBee application within a single package. The MC1322x includes a 32-bit MCU, an IEEE 802.15.4 transceiver, balun, and RF matching components integrated into a land-grid array package that virtually eliminates the need for external RF components. The platform also features a TurboLink mode that accelerates data rates up to 2 Mb/s between nodes. The devices switch automatically between the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol and TurboLink packets, allowing users to take advantage of high-speed capabilities while controlling and monitoring a ZigBee mesh network. Future incarnations of the MC1322x will include RAM and flash memory. With general sampling set for December, 2007, pricing for standard-mode devices in LGA packages is $5.50 each/10,000.
