SATA Storage Controller Abets Real-Time Encryption

April 26, 2010
The OXUFS944SE, thought to be the industry’s highest-performance, lowest-power direct attached storage (DAS) controller, employs application firmware that includes secure, real-time eSATA encryption.

Embedded Systems Conference, 2010 – The OXUFS944SE, thought to be the industry’s highest-performance, lowest-power direct attached storage (DAS) controller, employs application firmware that includes secure, real-time eSATA encryption. Allegedly, the controller provides over 80 MB/s of write performance and as much as a 100% performance increase on small block sizes over similar products.  It bridges between an eSATA, FireWire or USB 2.0 interface to a single hard disk drive and includes a flexible cipher engine providing real-time, on-the-fly eSATA encryption. Other features include a power consumption of 391 mW and support for a number of power-saving modes including SATA interface power management. Pricing for the OXUFS944SE is $7 each in volume.
