SBC Boosts Performance Without Increasing Power

July 7, 2010
The PowerXtreme PPC9B 6U VMEbus single-board computer (SBC) provides an upgrade path for PowerXtreme users.

Based on Freescale’s QorIQ P2020 dual-core processor and with 2 GB of DDR3 ECC memory, the PowerXtreme PPC9B 6U VMEbus single-board computer (SBC) provides an upgrade path for PowerXtreme users. It maintains the power envelope of previous family members such as the PPC4A and PPC7A while delivering around 10 times the processing performance while exhibiting a power dissipation of only 20W to 25W. In addition, the SBC offers substantial configuration flexibility, allowing users to create a solution precisely tailored to their application. Other features include dual Gb Ethernet ports, two UART ports, four fast serial COM ports, two USB ports, two SATA ports, and 24 GPIO ports, with an additional Gb Ethernet, USB, and UART port available via front I/O on air-cooled versions. Available in five air- and conduction-cooled versions, support is via Deployed Test Software and operating system support includes VxWorks, LynxOS, and Linux. GE FANUC INTELLIGENT PLATFORMS, Charlottesville, VA. (434) 978-5000.
