IAR Systems’ updated its Embedded Workbench for 8051 with new and revised device support and integration possibilities, along with new features. Version 8.30 of the C/C++ development toolchain adds Generalized Extended Stack Support, which enables the use of any 9- to 16-bit extension of the stack pointer. Option handling is simplified, and ready-made template project to reproduce runtime libraries are available. Project connections make it easier to use device configuration tools alongside the Embedded Workbench. Files or file packages generated by external generation tools can be imported; the toolchain will automatically detect changes in the generated file set. As a result, automated integration becomes possible with numerous device-configuration tools, such as Infineon’s DAVE code generator.
