The PC722 commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) card, featuring the Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA, is designed for applications that require large-band signal digitization or generation via accelerated frequency-domain algorithms, such as software-defined radio and radar/sonar. 4DSP’s card specifically addresses advanced data-acquisition and digital-signal-processing requirements. Analog inputs are digitized with a dual-channel, multimode analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that provides two 8-bit channels, enabling simultaneous sampling of one or two channels at up 2.5 or 1.25 Gsamples/s, respectively. Flexible control of clock source, sampling frequency, and calibration occurs through an I2C serial communication bus. Analog-signal outputs come from a dual-channel, wide-band digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The two DAC channels operate at 5.6 Gsamples/s. Single-ended, ac-coupled analog signals connect to MMCX or SSMC coaxial connectors on the front panel. Other features include 1 Gbyte of DDR3 SDRAM, 32-Gbyte Micro SD flash, PCIe Gen2 x8/four-lane and PCIe Gen3 x4, power-supply/temperature monitoring, and several power-down modes to switch off unused function for both ADC and DAC.
