ADLINK Technology’s dual-processor VPX6000 6U VPX blade, based on quad-core 4th-generation Intel Core i7-4700EQs, is designed to meet MIL-STD-810F for harsh environments. According to the company, it delivers the high availability required for mission-critical defense/aerospace applications, including radar, sonar, unmanned aerial vehicles (UVAs), and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). System integrators can map multiple functions (e.g., control, graphics, signal processing) onto one blade. The blade also can run dual independent systems. It supports operating systems such as Windows Embedded, Linux, and VxWorks. Two CPU subsystems are connected by a PCIe x8 Gen2 non-transparent bridge for high-speed/high-bandwidth data transfer. The SWaP-optimized platform, with an operating temperature range of ‒40 to +75°C at wedge-lock, withstands high shock and vibration while consuming only 160 W maximum. I/O includes VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, and two USB 3.0 on the front panel, and HDMI/DVI, three USB 3.0, two serial ports, PS/2 keyboard/mouse, eight GPIO, and audio on the backplane. Also provided is an expansion plane of two PCIe x8 Gen2 with direct memory access (DMA). The platform supports 16 Gbytes of soldered, dual-channel DDR3L ECC memory and upgradeable storage via an SSD mezzanine card.
