At this year's embedded world North America Conference in Anaheim, Calif., Kingston Technology released its new massive 8-TB PCIe 5.0 ×4 NVMe SSD, the latest edition to the company's FURY Renegade G5 family of SSDs.
The NVMe is designed for gaming, content creation, and high-performance computing. It’s built around the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller, 3D TLC NAND, and a DRAM cache to maintain high throughput under load. The drive comes in the standard M.2 2280 form factor and uses a 12-layer PCB for increased signal integrity and heat dissipation.
According to Kingston, sequential performance reaches up to 14,800 MB/s read and 14,000 MB/s write on the 4- and 8-TB models, placing it among the fastest consumer drives available. The company lists endurance ratings of up to 4 PBW (petabytes written) for larger models, supported by a five-year warranty. The Renegade G5 also features advanced thermal management for stable, sustained performance and minimal throttling during extended transfers.
For gamers and professionals moving to PCIe 5.0 systems, the FURY Renegade G5 significantly boosts performance over Gen 4 drives, cutting load and render times while providing the bandwidth needed for demanding applications and large-format media workflows.
"Whether for work or play, users need more power and space," said Keith Schimmenti, SSD business manager at Kingston. "We're happy this 80-TB addition to Kingston FURY Renegade G5 SSD can provide high-power users and hardware enthusiasts both."
