Accommodating BGA devices with a 1-mm pitch, such as the Renesas 256 PBGA and Cypress 256 FBGA, the SS-BGA256E-01 BGA socket operates at bandwidths up to 10 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss. The socket dissipates up to 7W without extra heat sinking and can handle up to 100W when paired with a custom heat sink. The contactor exhibits a self-inductance of 0.62 nH per pin. In terms of endurance, the socket can withstand up to 500,000 insertions. There is a force of 30g on each ball when an IC is inserted and the lid actuated. Operating temperature range is from -40°C to +150°C and current capacity on each contactor is 4A at ambient temperature. Single-unit pricing for the SS-BGA256E-01 is $1,598.
