The Stratix GX FPGA is said to be the market's first such device to support up to 1-Gb/s SPI-4.2 performance, reportedly the maximum data rate (16-bit full duplex) currently available using the source-synchronous differential I/O standard. The device also employs embedded dynamic phase alignment (DPA) circuitry that allows it to deliver 25% faster performance in comparison to similar devices. The 25% increase in the data transfer rate of a carrier's multi-service switch or router, in turn, is said to significantly reduce latency and improve quality of service. Price for a core license lists for $17,995. ALTERA CORP., San Jose, CA. (408) 544-6397.
