NI cRIO-908x system

National Instruments has extended its Compact RIO line with the NI cRIO-908x systems (Fig. 1) based on Intel's dual core 400 MHz Core i7 processor and Xilinx's Spartan-6 LX150 FPGA. The system is capable of running Windows Embedded Standard 7. It is also supported by National Instrument's LabView (see LabView 2011 - More and Better).

The NI cRIO-908x's peripheral interfaces include a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports, a MXI Express port, four USB ports, RS232 and RS485 serial ports. National Instruments has also added a new CPU eXpansion Module (CXM). The CXM provides access to custom connectivity and expansion options.

The latest functionality has also been delivered on the Single Board RIO (sbRIO) form factor. The NI sbRIO-9605/06 devices are under 102.87 mm by 96.52 mm.
