FPGA Platform Delivers Lower Power and 16G SerDes
Lattice Semiconductor's Nexus 2 platform is built to help customers overcome their edge AI design challenges today and in the future. It enables a “design today, update anytime” capability so that their systems can evolve with advances in AI algorithms, new security threats, and new demands for interconnecting devices.
Compared to similar class competitive devices, Nexus 2 offers up to 3X lower power, up to 3.2X faster MIPI speed, and up to 10X faster configuration time, all with an up to 5X smaller size. The platform also maintains advanced connectivity features, including multi-protocol 16G SerDes with PCIe Gen 4 controller, high-performance I/O, high-speed LPDDR4 memory interface support, and MIPI D and C-PHY up to 7.89 Gb/s.
Security features include crypto agility, post-quantum readiness, and anti-tamper protection. Armed with this combination, customers can design high-performance edge AI applications thanks to high power efficiency, a small form factor, and robust security features.
The Nexus 2 platform makes it possible to develop critical applications, including motor control, robotics, automotive zonal gateways, and edge monitoring, with its high data throughput, memory performance, fast flash configuration, enhanced timing closure, and parallel processing capabilities that are well-suited for data-intensive applications.
These capabilities enhance overall efficiency, safety, data integrity, device reliability, and system performance, offering greater flexibility for developers to design various applications without constraints around power, performance, size, and security. Lattice’s platform-based design approach allows for rapid development of new product families.
The FPGA families built on Nexus 2 are supported by Lattice Radiant Design Software, which works cohesively with popular development tools and frameworks. This compatibility eases the learning curve for existing teams, ensuring a smoother transition. In addition, a commitment to industry standards enhances interoperability, allowing businesses to leverage their current infrastructure.
Applications for Nexus 2 include smart homes, smart factories, smart cars, 5G+ telecom infrastructure, next-gen data centers, AI PCs, and more.
