NAND Flash Controller Supports SLC/MLC Memories

The GBDriver RA8 series NAND flash memory controllers are compatible with 2 KB/page and 4 KB/page NAND Flash memories. The controllers support SLC and MLC memories and support capacities ranging from 128 MB to 16 GB in the case of SLC and 256 MB to 32 GB in the case of MLC. They are available in 128-pin TQPF and 121-pin VFBGA packages and integrate 15-bit ECC as well as an auto-recovery function. In addition, the series incorporates a unique static wear leveling algorithm that averages the number of erased times of each memory block. This reportedly maximizes the rewritable life span of NAND Flash memories. Other management functions include an updated SMART function that determines the number of erased times of each memory block, facilitating quantitative evaluation, management, and operation of storage systems.
