Designed for the low-pin-count (LPC) bus interface and to store system and video BIOS code, the LPC family of flash memory includes the 2-Mb M50LPW002, 4-Mb M50LPW040, and the 8-Mb M50LPW080. The devices are compatible with industry-standard chipsets including those from AMD, VIA, SiS, Ali and nVIDIA. Fabricated on the company’s 0.18 µm technology, operating voltage is from a 3V to 3.6V supply for program, erase and read operations. An optional 12V supply is also available for programming. Maximum active current is 20 mA and standby current is 100 mA . Other features include a program/erase controller with an embedded byte program/erase algorithm and a program/erase suspend feature. A quadruple byte programming option is available that allows a typical programming time of 10 ms/byte and an erase time of 750 ms for a 64-KB block. Prices range from $1.40 to $3 each/10,000.
