CAN Peripherals & Embedded Flash Rev Up New 8-Bit Microcontrollers

The application range of the ST7 8-bit microcontroller family has been greatly extended with the addition of controllers packing dedicated CAN peripherals, embedded Flash memory, nested interrupt capability, and new, low-cost development tools. The CAN protocol support expands the µCs' use in automotive and industrial control applications, thanks to CAN's ability to deliver high-speed communications in electrically noisy environs. Complementing the existing mask ROM, OTP and UV EPROM versions of the ST7 family are devices with Flash memory to allow equipment to be programmed on production lines. And the new ST7 µCs' nested interrupt structure with software priority levels helps support real-time processing.
