Offered as the first in a line of Problem Solver Memories, the FM3808 of ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) chip combines a 256 Kb nonvolatile FRAM memory with a real-time clock and system-supervisor functions. The FRAM secures all memory and real-time clock configuration settings in nonvolatile registers without a power source of any kind. The device also includes a power monitor, programmable watchdog timer, and programmable time/date alarm functions. It operates from a 2.7V to 5.5V power supply, retains data for up to 10 years, and operates over a temperature range of -40ûC to 85ûC. The FM3808DK development kit includes the chip and all necessary discrete devices. The FM3808 in a 32-pin TSOP starts at $5.80 each/10,000.
