First in the AP series audio processors, the uPD99910 integrates a CPU and DSP dedicated to music playback and an SD memory card interface that supports CPRM copyright protection technology. Power savings from the CPU/DSP operating in place of an app processor allows for 50 hours of continuous music. Teaming with an app processor, the uPD99910 appropriates and optimizes playback functions. Playback can be initiated by downloading the playback program from the processor. Code used to run the program can be stored in flash memory with only a small amount of code stored in the uPD99910, thereby reducing internal memory size. Moreover, external flash memory is not required. Sample pricing starts at approximately $13.50 each.NEC ELECTRONICS AMERICA, Santa Clara, CA. (800) 366-9782.
