According to the company, the FSSD06 is the first multiplexer that supports high- and dual-voltage secure digital, secure digital I/O, and multimedia cards, abetting expansion of the ASIC and the baseband processor SDIO port. The device allows a 1.8V host processor to interface with high- and dual-voltage cards, providing bi-directional communication while consuming 1 µA. In terms of interfacing, the chip enables a handset processor to communicate with a 2.7V music card and a 1.8V GPS card, for example. Other features include 5 kV of ESD protection, support for data rates up to 52 MHz, and a 3.5 mm x 4.5 mm 24-lead MLP package. Price is $1.36 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA.
