Debuting as the industry's highest density voice-over-packet processor, the Comcerto carrier convergence processor (M82710) combines voice encryption, authentication, and denial-of-service protection with carrier-class performance. The M82710 delivers 2 GHz of DSP power and is capable of processing more than 500 channels of secure carrier-class VoIP for wireline applications. For wireless applications, the device can process more than 100 channels of the company's CDMA selectable-mode-vocoder (SMV) technology, said to produce the highest-quality and lowest bit rate wireless transmissions to date. Available in a 19-mm FPBGA and both hardware- and software-compatible with its Miro M82610 predecessor, the M82710 also includes a complete suite of voice codecs and protocols for GSM and W-CDMA. Sampling now with production quantities slated for Q3, price is $399 each/10,000. MINDSPEED TECHNOLOGIES INC., Newport Beach, CA. (949) 579-3650.
