For applications where the microprocessor is overburdened or absent, the SLA7051M constant-current, two-phase unipolar stepper motor driver includes a built-in translator, allowing it to run independently of a processor. The translator's inputs are compatible with 3.3V or 5V control signals and is capable of full, half-step, or rotating direction. It also includes a sleep-mode function for applications that require a standby mode and synchronous PWM. The device combines CMOS logic with high-voltage FET outputs and can deliver up to ±2A of output. Continuous operation spans a -20°C to +85°C temperature range. Available in an 18-pin, dual in-line power-tab package, price is $3.30 each/10,000. ALLEGRO MICROSYSTEMS INC., Worcester, MA. (508) 853-5000.
