EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, San Jose, CA. – Expanding the XtremeDSP family, the low-cost Spartan-DSP series delivers over 20 GMACS performance while consuming up to 50% less dynamic power than comparable devices. The Spartan-3A DSP platform represents the company's most cost-efficient devices optimized for wireless, video, and consumer applications. The platform features the 3SD3400A delivering over 30 GMACS and 2,200 Gb/s of memory bandwidth and the 3SD1800A providing over 20 GMACS and 1,500 Gb/s of memory bandwidth. Both rely on the XtremeDSP slice (DSP48A) architecture that allows users to implement numerous independent arithmetic functions. The architecture also supports connecting multiple DSP48A slices to form wide math functions, DSP filters, and complex arithmetic functions without the use of general logic fabric. According to the company, this reduces power consumption while delivering very high performance and efficient silicon utilization. Sample prices for the 3SD3400A and 3SD1800A are $44.95 and $29.85, respectively. Production volumes are slated for late 2008. XILINX INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 559-7778.
