In its seventh incarnation, the Comcerto 900 Series M82910 VoIP processor is now optimized for emerging IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) networking applications. The processor addresses the challenge of seamlessly transcoding wireless and wireline protocols to transport voice and video between legacy circuit-switched and next-generation packet-based networks. Integrating 18 processors including a DSP, packet processing engine, and additional hardware co-processors for echo cancellation and video processing, the processor supports both packet-to-TDM and packet-to-packet operation across the entire range of IP modulations. Other features include streaming interfaces plus the ability to process more than 672 channels of carrier-class VoIP and more than 200 channels of AMR with echo canceling. Packaged in a 19-mm BGA, price is $250 each/10,000. MINDSPEED TECHNOLOGIES INC., Newport Beach, CA. (949) 579-3000.
