Initially introduced as the industry's first single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) analog switch with -2V undershoot, the NC7SBU3157 protects ASICs, microprocessors, and other ICs against negative voltage transients and noise, regardless of frequency. The chip eliminates the negative voltage transients that occur when, for example, an audio jack and plug are connected by incorporating the company's patented undershoot hardened Circuitry (UHCTM). The switch passes signals of over 250 MHz, which allows the routing of analog and digital signals with minimal propagation delay. Other features include an on-resistance of 5?, rail-to-rail operation over a power supply range of 1.6V to 5.5V, and a total harmonic distortion (THD) of 0.001%. Starting price of the device in a six-lead SC70 package is $0.90 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA. (888) 522-5372.
