Offered in compact 8-lead SOIC and TSSOP packages, the ISL1204 and ISL1205 real-time clocks (RTCs) integrate a permanent 64-bit unique ID that is read-only and tamper-proof for increased security. Both devices include a standard clock, calendar, an I2C communication link, and alarm functions, while the ISL12025 adds a CPU supervisor and watchdog timer. Operating on supply voltages from 2.7V to 5.5V and, in a battery back-up mode, down to 1.8V, power consumption is typically 800 nA in battery mode. Other shared features include 4 Kb of EEPROM with eight modes of Block Lock control, which prevents accidental data corruption. The EEPROM data retention is guaranteed over two million write cycles. Prices for the ISL1204 and ISL1205 are $1.80 and $1.97 each/1,000, respectively. INTERSIL CORP., Milpitas, CA. (888) 352-6832.
