Targeting DSP applications, four families of low drop out (LDO) regulators are said to combine features such as high output current, low dropout voltage, and fast transient response in a small, thermally efficient surface mount package. The four families consist of the TPS751xx and TPS753xx, which can drive up to 1.5 A of output current, and the TPS752xx and TPS754xx, which can output up to 2 A.
Each family contains five devices with different output voltages, one adjustable from 1.5 to 5 V and four with fixed voltages of 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, or 3.3 V. The devices also include integrated options for power-on reset and power-good functions. Other features include dropout voltages of 160 mV at 1.5 A and 210 mV at 2 A. Fixed output devices are guaranteed to provide a maximum output voltage tolerance of 2% over line, load and temperature ranges. The LDO regulators are available in 20-pin PowerPAD packages and have a starting price of $2.36 each/1,000.
