Said to be the industry's first digital signal processor with on-chip flash memory and targeted at motor, motion and process control applications, TMS320F240 DSP is pin- and code-compatible with firm's 'C240 ROM-based DSP of the TMS320C24x generation, a product line dedicated to embedded control applications. Motor designers can program quickly to flash memory and then transfer that code to a more cost-effective ROM-based DSP for volume production. Two other flash-based DSPs-the TMS320F241 and TMS320F243-integrate both flash memory and the industry's only Control Area Network (CAN) bus, a leading bus for industrial control. Both are sampling now.
