Seven new low-voltage analog switches are being launched that offer higher performance in smaller packages, suiting the devices for use in routing and selecting signals in battery-operated and portable audio, video and data products. A new high-density CMOS process was used to yield switches that can achieve lower on-resistance, better on-resistance flatness, high off-isolation, lower crosstalk, and wider bandwidth. The new analog switches are available in single, dual and quad configurations and require a 1.8V-5.5V supply. One of the devices, the single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) DG2011, comes in a 6-lead, 1.6 x 1.6-mm footprint SC-89 package, reportedly making it the industry's smallest analog switch. It has a 1.8? on-resistance and a charge injection of less than 10 pC over the entire analog voltage range. The DG2031 and DG2016 dual SPDT analog switches come in MSOP-10 packages, with the former offering a sub-1? on-resistance (0.75? at 2.7V) and excellent matching between the two switches and guaranteeing flatness over the entire voltage range, while the latter guarantees on-resistance (3? at 2.7V), as well as matching and flatness over the analog voltage range. The other four devices in the series—namely, the DPDT DG2015 and SPST DG2041, DG2042 and DG2043—are quad, low-voltage analog switches housed in 16-pin QFN leadless packages measuring just 4 mm x 4 mm. The new DG2000 series analog switches have a starting price of $0.35 each/100K. SILICONIX INC., Vishay Intertechnology Inc., Santa Clara, CA. (408) 988-8000.
