Modem Chipset Supports Both 56-kbps And ADSL Data Transmissions

Letting PC users access the Internet using traditional analog or DSL service, the WildWire three-chip set supports ADSL and V.90 56 kbps analog connections. The set uses firm's WildWire Digital Subscriber Line Lite technology that downloads data at up to 1.5 Mbps, which is up to 30 times faster than existing analog modems, without requiring voice/data splitters. The WildWire chipset consists of the 1690 digital signal processor, and ADSL codec, and an analog modem codec. The 1690 DSP couples two 1600 DSP cores onto a single chip operating at 200 MIPS and consuming only 1.5W.
