Brandishing a wide input-voltage range from 12V to 75V and a programmable switching frequency up to 400 kHz, the IR3651 PWM controller is a formidable contender for high-performance synchronous dc/dc buck applications. The controller is designed to drive a pair of external N-channel MOSFETs up to 25A and features programmable soft-start, hiccup current limit, and under-voltage lockout. It also offers synchronization, which promises to simplify system-level EMI filter design. With an eye on flexibility, the RoHS-compliant controller includes a 150V half-bridge driver. Price is $2 each/10,000. For more information, contact Graham Robertson at INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER, El Segundo, CA. (310) 726-8512.
