The company has tapped its extensive portfolio of TV and video technology to develop an array of silicon-ready intellectual property (IP) cores that are said to deliver excellent picture quality and decreased storage requirements in both standard and high-definition formats, including MPEG-2 MP@ML and MP@HL audio/video encoders, MPEG-2 encoder technology, and MPEG-4 encoder/decoder solutions. Complementary communication and mixed-signal technologies, including an 8-VSB/256 QAM demodulator and a NTSC/PAL encoder, are also available as IP cores. The new cores are well-suited for use in interactive set-top boxes and DVD recordable products, as well as for portable video communications platforms.
