Designed for use with the company's SP-3, Sp-5 and SP-5flex DSP cores, the SPEEDi RTOS targets applications where low system overhead and code density are a major concern. In its basic configuration, the new real-time operating system (RTOS) requires less than 340 instruction words to provide basic execution function.
Extended functionality such as semaphore, messaging and synchronous-event handling can be added to match specific applications. Diagnostic levels can be configured for full capability during the development cycle then reconfigured with minimal diagnostic code for the final product release. The code size of a configuration with semaphore, messaging and minimum diagnostics is less than 900 instruction words. Licensing fees begin at $20,000 for basic set-up and linking support.
