Groomed for high-volume home and mobile consumer markets, the Aspex Compression Engine (ACE) is a software-programmable and scalable HD video transcoder engine based the company's eighth-generation ASProCore architecture. Software programmability allows a single architecture to support popular video-compression algorithms including MPEG-2, AVC/H.264, VC-1, MJPEG, and others. In terms of scalability, the engine can be tailored to the exact requirements of a given application from QVGA to full 1,920 x 1,080 HD, making it suitable for a wide range of products including Blu-Ray recorders, HD camcorders, HD mobile applications, home gateways, and wireless HDMI adapters without the need for software rewrites. ACE IP is available as a RTL block with verification test benches, synthesis scripts, a behavioral simulator, reference C software libraries, and an API.
