The SM2XX Compact Flash (CF), Multimedia Card (MMC), and Secure Digital (SD) card flash controllers offer sustained performance of 10 Mbytes/s for data transfers and 8 Mbytes/s for write operations. The SM320 USB 2.0 flash disk controllers offer a 16-Mbyte/s data-transfer rate and a 14-Mbyte/s write throughput. Samples and production quantities of the SM2XX controllers are available immediately. In lots of 10,000, the SM2XX devices cost less than $3.00 each, while the SM320 costs less than $2.00 apiece. The SM320 is currently sampling and will be available in production quantities by the end of this year.
