Targeted for use in IS-95B compliant wireless devices such as handsets for the cellular and PCS bands, this CDMA baseband processor is a single-chip system. It integrates an ARM7 TDMI microprocessor, two OAKDSPCore DSPs, mixed-signal circuitry, and standard-cell logic to include all baseband processing logic. The chip also integrates DSP memory in the form of RAM and ROM for multiple vocoders. It also carries all the mixed-signal cores to implement a voice codec, the baseband analog transmit and receive paths, auxiliary ADCs and DACs, and a PLL. Sophisticated power management circuitry is also on the chip.
