Combining a 140-MHz DSP core, large memory (4.5k each for code, parameter and sampling), and a 0.24-micron CMOS process, the CS4630 digital signal processor is said to deliver fast PC audio processing, enabling OEMs to build into their PCs audio features and performance required by such demanding applications as computer games and PC-based conferencing.Among the features offered by the new PCI audio DSP are Sensaura’s 3D and multi-channel audio, EAX environmental audio, unlimited voice wavetable synthesis, and a built-in rate converter, digital mixer and 10-band graphic equalizer. The chip can also deliver soft modem support, improved power management, and compliance with Intel’s AC97 2.1 standard.
