Single-Chip Modem Suits Set-Top Boxes

The 73M2902 single-chip modem is designed specifically for the set-top box market. Boasting of a full feature set tailored to meet the needs of North American, European and other service providers, the device is capable of ITU-T V.22bis, V.22, V.23, V.23PAVI, and V.21 data mode operation as well as V.42 error correction. It includes a DSP core, an analog front end, on-chip hybrid driver, and all the internal ROM and RAM needed to operate a V.22bis error-correcting modem. Also, its DTE serial interface is both synchronous and asynchronous. Available in a 100-pin QFP, pricing is $9.49 each/25,000.
